WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
Kaitlin Hatch(Sewell,N.J./Washington Twp.) and
Katie Thompson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) were both selected to USA Field Hockey's PA Region High Performance Training Squad announced on May 14
th. Up to 144 players from the training squads will be selected to compete in the USA Young Women's Championship this summer at Spooky Nook from June 25-June 29, 2018. All current and recently graduated college players are eligible to compete in the High-Performance Program.
Hatch, a rising senior, started in all 21 games this fall and led the Rams in goals last season with 18 and chipped in nine assists. She was named to the PSAC First Team and was a National Field Hockey Coaches Association 1
st Team All American for her efforts. Thompson, a rising junior, started and played in 18 games last fall. She was fourth on the team in goals scored with six (three Game Winners) and added five assists. Both Hatch and Thompson are returning starting forwards for the Rams next season.
The Golden Rams are no strangers to the USA Field Hockey High Performance Training Squads. The summer of 2017 saw
Rachal Toppi competing in the USA Field Hockey Young Women's Championship. In the summers of 2015 and 2016
Dayle Paustian was selected to the Young Women's Championships with her team winning the gold in the summer of 2015.
Kaitlin Hatch and
Kelsi Lykens are the other Rams to have competed on the USA Field Hockey
training squads as Golden Rams. Toppi and Paustian are the only two Division II Field Hockey Players to have ever been selected to the High-Performance Tournament.
Practices for the PA Region Training Squad will be held at Drexel University. Drexel Head Coach Denise Zelenak, WCU Hall of Fame Class of 2015, is the head coach of the PA region. Those athletes selected for the USA Field Hockey Young Women's Championship will be released in June.
