WEST CHESTER, Pa. It was a family effort as
Heather and
Haley Spangler (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) scored a combined three tries to lead West Chester over Mount St. Mary's 32-19. The Golden Rams move on to the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Tier II Championship match next Sunday against Brown University.
How it Happened:
- The Mount took the lead early as Shandree McNatt scored a try in the ninth minute of action. | MSM 5-0
- Mount St. Mary's increased their lead in the 23rd as Julie Crochet picked up a try. Maya Grassi made the conversion attempt. | MSM 12-0
- The Golden Rams struck back in the final 20 minutes of the first, as Autumn Czaplicki (Pillow, Pa / Line Mountain High School) and Faith Morley (Glenmoore, Pa. / Downingtown West) each scored a try. | MSM 12-10
- Heather Spangler scored four minutes into the second half. Kylie Corless (Wrightstown, Pa / Archbishop Wood High School) connected on the conversion as West Chester earned their first lead of the day. | WCU 17-12
- Ten minutes later, Jalana Garcia scored a try for Mount St. Mary's. Grassi picked up her second conversion of the day as the Mount took the lead. | MSM 19-17
- Freshman Haley Andreasen (Delano, Minn. / Delano) made her first collegiate try count as she scored the go-ahead try for West Chester in the 62nd, beginning an unanswered 15-point scoring run in the final twenty minutes of play. | WCU 22-19
- Heather and Haley Spangler scored the final two tries for West Chester, solidifying the victory. Heather scored in the 64th minute, while Haley scored in the 76th minute. | WCU 32-19
Inside the Numbers:
- Czaplicki's try was her team-leading 12th on the season.
- West Chester's regular season record stands at 10-0.
- The Golden Rams have now outscored their opponents 343-121 this season.

- Senior Haley Spangler on the opportunity to play with her sister Heather: "I love having her as a part of the team, we played together in high school. It's a three-year age gap so unfortunately its my last year, her first year but I look forward to her taking over the team in the coming years."
- Coach Tony DeRemer on the impact of the Spangler sisters today: "I was happy that [Haley] got her try today. She had some really good runs up the middle, cuts and breaks, it didn't really turn into anything all day but it going forward. It really didn't turn into anything until that last try that she got, and I was really happy she got it. And Heather, she really played tough today, ran a lot of good ball got us going forward, both of them were game changers today. I'm really proud of them."

The Golden Rams will travel to Boston, Ma. as Harvard University hosts the NIRA Tier II Championship next Sunday, November 17th. West Chester will face off against Brown University as they fight for the title. The match will take place at Roberto A. Mignone Field at 12:00 p.m.
