WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University women's rugby defeated Brown University 25-14 today in the season opener. Sophomore
Autumn Czaplicki (Pillow, Pa. / Mountain High School) led the Golden Rams on offense, scoring two tries.
How it happened:
- West Chester took a 10-0 lead early in the game as Czaplicki and senior Harley Divine (Alexandria, Va. / West Potomac) each scored a try within the first twenty minutes of the match.
- Brown responded in the 23rd minute with a try and a successful conversion.
- Golden Rams sophomore Lauren Madalian (Randolph, N.J. / Randolph High School) scored a try in the 37th minute, giving West Chester a 15-7 lead at the half.
- In the second half, Brown bounced back with another try and conversion, cutting West Chester's lead down to one at 15-14.
- West Chester retaliated by scoring two tries in the last fifteen minutes of the match. Junior Grace Larko (Vandergrift, Pa. / Kiski Area) scored in the 68th minute, while Czaplicki scored again in the 74th minute.
