WEST CHESTER, Pa. – A brand new Mondo Track circling John A. Farrell Stadium's football field nearing completion highlights the latest facilities upgrade with a few more projects on the horizon. The entire project is part of an effort to modernize the athletic facilities on South Campus along S. New Street.
"Farrell stadium's new track surface is a game-changer for West Chester University athletics," Director of Athletics,
Terry Beattie, said. "The state-of-the-art track affords our track & field coaching staff the tool necessary to attract student-athletes, who will carry the men's and women's program to the next level as well as the opportunity to host conference meets in the future."
Miller Flooring in West Chester, Pa., installed the top-of-the-line Mondo Track surface inside Farrell Stadium. Completion of the purple track with a gold-colored "D" zone is expected around Sept. 11, weather permitting.
Another recently finished portion of the athletic facilities upgrade included brand new court level locker rooms for the University's men's and women's basketball teams in Hollinger Field House. The Fayette Group out of Norristown, Pa., constructed the home basketball team's locker rooms under the balcony level bleachers. The Hollinger weight room was re-located to Ehinger Gym to make way for the new team rooms. The next phase of Hollinger upgrades is scheduled to include the lobby entrance, athletic training room, volleyball team room and cheerleading team room.
Serpico Stadium, home to the Golden Rams' baseball team, will undergo renovations this fall which include new dugouts, natural grass field improvements including in-ground irrigation and upgraded fencing.
