GAMBIER, OHIO – Nikita Pisarenko (Tallinn, Estonia) won the 200-yard breaststroke, and
Carter Smith placed third in the 1-meter diving competition, as West Chester finished the final day of the Top Performance Invitational at Kenyon University third overall Saturday night.

West Chester put up 1,391.5 points in the three-day event. Host Kenyon won with 3,048 points, and Carnegie Mellon was second with 1,678 on the six-team field.

"I've never had so much fun coaching a team," WCU head coach
Steve Mazurek said about both his men's and women's teams. "They are not afraid to work, and they love to race. This was our first championship-style meet since March 2020, and it was as if they never skipped a beat."

Pisarenko, who won the 100 breaststroke on Friday, added the 200 breast title to his achievements for the weekend. He touched the wall in 2 minutes, 0.77 seconds, which was an NCAA 'B' time. It was the Golden Rams' lone victory on Saturday.

The Golden Rams witnessed three swimmers qualify for the finals in the 200 butterfly.
Logan Brockway (York, PA/Dallastown) led three West Chester swimmers to the wall with a fourth-place showing in 1:51.81.
Joel Dunnigan (York, PA/Dallastown) was sixth in 1:52.34 while
Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) was 10th in 1:53.94.

Collin Pettit (Havertown, PA/Haverford) finished fifth and
Thomas Powell III (West Grove, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was seventh in the 1650 freestyle. Pettit posted a time of 15:58.53, which was an NCAA 'B' time while Powell posted a 16:16.00.

Desclous placed seventh in the 200 backstroke in 1:50.73 while
Dalton Fink (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was ninth in 1:52.70.

Carter Smith (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) registered a score of 446.9 in the 1m springboard competition to place third overall. Teammate
Michael Robinson (Chester Springs, PA/Bishop Shanahan) was fifth with a score of 313.

Noah Benner (Green Lane, PA/Boyertown) was 10th in the 100 freestyle.

West Chester will head down south for a portion of the winter break. The Golden Rams will be back in the pool up north on Jan. 22 at Delaware.
