Meet Results
LEWISBURG, Pa.- The West Chester men's track and field squad returned to action this weekend at the Bucknell Bison Open, which was held over the course of two days inside Gerhard Field House in Lewisburg, Pa.
West Chester had a strong weekend in the field events, led by another triple jump victory from
Will Rivers (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) who followed up his PSAC Field Athlete of the Week honor from this past week with a victory in the triple jump this weekend, registering a mark of 46 feet 4 inches. This performance also stands as the seventh-best effort in program history. Rivers also finished 11th in the long jump, registering a mark of 19-8 in this event for the Golden Rams.
Andrew Puz (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) who entered the weekend ranked eighth in the Atlantic Region in the pole vault following a strong effort at the Gotham Cup earlier this season, turned in another strong effort this weekend, finishing third after clearing a mark of 13-3 ½.
Zyon Terry (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) led the Golden Rams in the long jump, finishing third with a mark of 21-4 while
Zahir Madyun (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) was fifth in this event with a mark of 21-3 ¾. Madyun also finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 40-9 ¾. Terry's efforts also resulted in a personal-best mark for him while narrowly missing a PSAC qualifying mark.
Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) competed for West Chester in the shot put, finishing 10th in this event with a mark of 39-0 ½.
Geraldo Medina (Willow Street, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) who entered with the third best weight throw mark in the region following a strong performance at the Seahawk Shootout, nearly matched his effort from that day, registering a mark of 51-6 ½ to finish third in this event. This mark also stands as the sixth-best mark in the program's indoor history.
On the track,
Chad Mowbray (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor), Orion Frazier (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) and
Nicholas Page (Laurel, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) turned in two of the top individual efforts on the weekend with Mowbray finishing third in the 400 with a time 50.71 seconds, which also served as PSAC qualifying time with Frazier close behind in fourth with a time of 50.78 seconds while Page was fourth in the 60 with a time of 7.13 seconds.
Matt Fry (Reading, Pa./Wilson) also competed for West Chester in the 400, narrowly missing a top-10 of his own finishing in 11th with a time of 52.71 seconds. Frazier's 400 time of 50.78 seconds was a new personal best time for him.
Aaron Williams (Kirklyn, Pa./Upper Darby) also led a strong contingent of Golden Rams in the 200, which Mowbray also competed in, finishing sixth with a time of 22.81 while
Jack Wasserman (Perkasie, Pa./Penn Ridge) was 14th in 23.37 followed by Mowbray in 17th with a time of 23.45 seconds and Frazier was 18th in 23.50. Williams and Wasserman each registered new personal-best times in this event while Williams also hit a PR in the 400 with a time of 54.68.
In the mile,
Philip Smith placed seventh with a time of 4 minutes and 30.58 seconds, which qualified him for the PSAC Championships, followed by
Chase Knorr (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) in 12th with a time of 4:40.49. Smith's performance also allowed him to set a new personal-best time of his own.
David Kramer (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) competed for West Chester in the 800 meter run, finishing in seventh with a time of 2:00.35 to lead the team in this event while qualifying for the PSAC Championships next month.
West Chester also turned in a pair of strong relay efforts as the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) squad was sixth with a time of 10:35.56 while the 4x400 relay squad finished second in 3:27.19.
West Chester will be back in action next Saturday at the 21st Annual DeSchriver Invitational inside Koehler Field House at East Stroudsburg.
