Men's Track and Field Finishes Second in Golden Ram Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
The West Chester men's track and field squad returned to action at home on Saturday afternoon inside John A. Farrell Stadium in the second of three home meets on the year for the Purple and Gold. West Chester finished second in the team standings after registering a score of 138 on the afternoon.

Amarre Mayo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.25 seconds, which served as a new personal-best time. Terrence Gainer (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West), Tyrese Reid (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), and Will Rivers (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) were close behind, finishing in fifth, sixth, and seventh with times of 11.33, 11.41, and 11.45, respectively with all three times serving as new personal-best times.

Mayo and Reid also registered top-10 finishes in the 200 as Mayo was fourth in 22.85 while Reid finished seventh in the 23.38.

In the 400, Ori Frazier (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) led the way for West Chester, finishing second overall with a time of 50.41, which served as a new personal-best and PSAC Qualifying time.

In the 800, Cole Smith (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and David Kramer (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) finished in second and third with times of 2:00.38 and 2:00.42 with Smith's time serving as a new personal-best time. Sean Fisher (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) also set a new PR, finishing eighth in a time of 2:04.97.

In the 1500, Amir Cubbage (Glenside, Pa./Abington) led the way for West Chester, finishing third with a time of 4:17.34, which was a new personal-best time for him as well.

In the 4x100 relay, West Chester finished second with a time of 46.35 seconds before capturing the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:26.36.

In the pole vault, Andrew Puz (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) took home the victory, registering a mark of 13 feet 9 ¼ inches while Geraldo Medina (Willow Street, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) won the shot put with a mark of 44-9 ¾, which served as a new personal-best.

Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) finished fourth in the discus, registering a mark of 101-1 after turning in a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 41-1 earlier in the day.

Medina led the way for West Chester in the hammer throw as well, finishing second in this event with a mark of 149-0, which served as a new personal best and PSAC Qualifying mark. Ben Thornton (Lincoln University, Pa./Salesianum) finished third in this event with a personal-best mark of 105-0 after also setting a PR in the shot put with a mark of 40-5 ½.

Jose Rivera (Ashley, Pa./E.L. Myers) captured the javelin, finishing atop the leaderboard in this event with a mark of 158-2 to lead the field.

West Chester will be back in action next Saturday at home in the Bill Butler Invitational, which will also be the Golden Rams final home meet of the year.
