Leah Johnson (Columbus, N.J./Notre Dame) earned PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after a trio of stellar performances in the return from the Holiday Break.
Johnson became the fourth player in school history to record a triple double and the first since 2019 in the win over Mansfield on Wednesday night as part of a stellar three-game stretch for the junior guard. Against Mansfield on Wednesday night, Johnson finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals to help lead the Golden Rams to a convincing win over the Mountaineers to open PSAC East play. This effort was the middle game of an impressive three games for Johnson, which saw her score in double figures in all three games, extending her streak to nine games in a row dating back to early December. Against Seton Hill on December 30
th, Johnson finished with 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists to go along with five steals in the victory over the Griffins, which halted a two-game losing streak vs the Western Division foes. On Saturday afternoon at Kutztown, Johnson finished with 17 points, which was second on the team in scoring while also coming away with seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
Johnson, who ranks in the top three in Division II women's basketball in assists per game, averaged 7.0 assists per game over the three games while also averaging 16.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game over the three-game stretch for West Chester, which saw the team play to a record of 2-1. Johnson's triple double vs Mansfield was the fourth in school history and the third in head coach
Kiera Wooden's tenure, all of which have come against PSAC East opponents.
