West Chester Remains Third After Second Day at Total Performance Invitational

GAMBIER, OHIO – Devin Metzger (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) was the highlight of the night winning the 200-yard freestyle to lead West Chester University's men on the second day of the Total Performance Invitational inside the Kenyon Athletic Center Friday night.
 
In all, the men hit four NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships  'B' qualifying times en route to another productive evening in the pool. Kenyon still leads the field of eight schools with 1,240.5 points. Carnegie Mellon is second with 1,015.5 points while West Chester is close behind with 1,010.5 points.
 
Metzger put up a time of 1 minute, 39.28 seconds to record a 'B' cut time for the Golden Rams and win the 200 free. Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) was third in 1:40.32, finishing 0.10 seconds away from a 'B' time as well. Daniel Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was fourth in 1:40.68 while Max Bachman (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was fifth.
 
Nolan Benner (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) placed third in the 100 breaststroke with a 'B' time of 55.34 seconds. Benner also swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay that placed third in 1:29.04. Metzger swam the anchor leg of that relay, along with the anchor leg of the 800 free relay that was fourth overall in 6:45.68.
 
Dalton Fink (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.95 seconds. Ben Desclous (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) was runner-up in the 400 individual medley. His time of 3:55.34 was a 'B' time, but also was eight seconds faster than his time in the morning prelims. Desclous also led off that 800 free relay team that was fourth while Fink led off the 200 medley relay that was third. Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) hit a 'B' time in the 400 IM with Desclous. He was fifth overall with a time of 3:57.94.
 
The third and final day of competition at the Total Performance Invitational gets under way in the morning with prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
