INDIANAPOLIS-The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee released its final Division II men's soccer regional rankings of the season on Wednesday afternoon. West Chester climbed from eighth to seventh in the Atlantic Region ahead of the DII selection show next Monday night.
Franklin Pierce (15-0-1) remained the top team in the region, followed by Charleston (W.V.) (16-1-0) in second, Gannon (16-0-1) in third, Millersville (12-2-3) in fourth, and Post (10-1-5) in fifth to complete the top five. Notre Dame of Ohio (11-2-4) was ranked sixth in the region, followed by West Chester in seventh, Mercyhurst (14-2-1) in eighth, Bloomsburg (10-3-4) in ninth, and East Stroudsburg (8-3-6) in 10th. Southern New Hampshire (9-5-3) and Wilmington (8-5-4) rounded out the poll as the first two teams out if the Tournament began this week.
West Chester concluded its regular season with a 2-1 loss against ESU at home last Friday afternoon before opening the PSAC Tournament with a draw against Bloomsburg. West Chester advanced 4-2 on PKs on Monday night at Bloomsburg, reaching its first PSAC Semifinal since 2019, which was also the last NCAA Tournament appearance for
Michael Benn's Golden Rams. West Chester will hope to hand top-seed and host Gannon its first loss of the season on Friday afternoon in the semifinals, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. in Erie.
