INDIANAPOLIS, IND - West Chester University's 800-yard freestyle relay opened the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships at Indiana Natatorium with a third-place finish.
The foursome of
Ann Carozza (West Chester, Pa./East),
McKenzie Hemingway (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County),
Mikayla Niness (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and
Keeley Durkin (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) posted a time of 7 minutes, 17.11 seconds to gain 32 points on the night and hand each of them another All-America certificate in the process.
Nova Southeastern won the national championship in the 800 free relay with a new meet record of 7:13.65. Perennial national power Drury's foursome was runner up in 7:14.86.
The 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships get under way in earnest Wednesday morning with prelims in the 200 individual medley, 50 free and 1-meter diving competition. Wednesday night will see the finals in those events plus the 200 medley relay.
