LEBANON, Pa.- Connor Strine (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) shot a one-over 73 to sit in seventh after the opening round of the PSAC Men's Golf Championships and help West Chester sit fourth in the team standings with a 308 after the first day of play.
Michael Wareham of Gannon fired a four-under 68 on Friday morning to lead the field and help Gannon race out to an 11-stroke (278-289) lead on the team leaderboard after the first day of competition at Iron Valley.
Strine was impressive on the front nine, shooting a one-under 35 thanks to birdies on the par-five third, par-four fourth, and par-five seventh. On the back nine, Strine started carded a bogey on his first four holes but recovered nicely with a birdie on the par-four 14
th and another birdie on the par-five 16
th to finish with an opening-round 73.
Evan Jozwiak (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and
Adam MacMillan () were steady throughout their opening rounds on Friday afternoon, each signing for a 77 after they both carded birdies on the par-five third. MacMillan also carded a birdie on the par-four ninth, along with birdies on the par-four 15
th and par-five 16
th, while Jozwiak added a birdie on the par-five 13
th.
