Last Time Out

After opening its home slate with a dominant 44-3 win over Frostburg State, the West Chester University women’s rugby team took to the road last weekend to take on New Haven in another NIRA matchup. West Chester jumped out to an early lead and used a 19-0 midway through the second half to erase a halftime deficit and hold for a thrilling 38-36 win over the Chargers. Emma Davies (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) drilled four conversions, and West Chester got important trys from Christelle Adikpeto (Abomey-Calavi, Benin/Moon Area), Alyssa Miller (Philadelohia, Pa./Girard Academic Music Program), Camryn Snow (Exton, Pa./West Chester East), Taylor Baldwin (Joppa, Md./Perry Hall Christian), Bridget Kowalski (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), and Kristen Swaveley (Reading, Pa./Exeter).

On the Road Again

Today is the middle game of another three-game road trip for West Chester. The Golden Rams play five of six away from home to open the year.

History Made

Elly Gorham (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield Secondary School) became the second player in team history and first since current Assistant coach Katie Walston in 2014 to convert a drop-kick goal in a match with a late score against Frostburg State in the home opener on September 21.

Welcome to the Flock

Adikpeto scored her second try in as many matches at New Haven on Saturday morning. The newcomer has now scored a try in two consecutive matches in her rookie season with the Golden Rams.

Series History

West Chester holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series vs. Kutztown and has outscored the Golden Bears 171-21, including a 60-0 victory in 2014.

Scouting Kutztown

Kutztown enters play with a record of 2-1-1 on the year following a win at Temple last week, which halted a two-game winless streak, which included a 17-17 tie vs Delaware and a 90-0 drubbing by Vassar.
