Women's Swimming and Diving to Host Delaware on Friday Night

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- After a strong performance at the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College and the TCNJ Diving Invitational at The College of New Jersey the weekend before Thanksgiving, the West Chester University women’s swimming and diving team is finishing its preparations for its final meet of 2024 as the Golden Rams welcome Delaware to West Chester on Friday night beginning at 5 p.m.

WEST CHESTER RETURN’S HOME FRIDAY AFTERNOON
West Chester returns home to Graham Natatorium for an in-season swim meet on Friday evening against the University of Delaware.  The Golden Rams look to put in a strong performance against the Blue Hens, who have recently competed in the Bison Invitational at Bucknell University, where they placed second out of seven teams. The Blue Hens are scheduled to swim again at the U.S. Open on December 4th, before heading up to West Chester.

West Chester is coming off a pair of good performances at the Total Performance Invitational in Gambier, Ohio before the Thanksgiving holiday break. men finished in second place after the first night of competition between seven teams and finishing up third overall after the last day of completion. After placing fifth on the leaderboard in Ohio, the women also look to continue their strong swims from the Total Performance Invitational. The Golden Ram divers were also in action just before Thanksgiving, competing in the two-day TCNJ Diving Invitational. West Chester swept the one-meter board with wins in both the six and 11 dive events off that board from Tori Wilson (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Alicia McHugh (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington), while Kacie Lenz (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) won the three-meter, six dive event. 

UNGO QUERO HONORED BY PSAC

Fifth-year senior Susana Ungo Quero (Madrid, Spain) authored three NCAA 'B' Cut times at the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College over the weekend and was responsible for 181 of West Chester's 669.5 points. She finished 1st in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.26). She placed second in the 100 butterfly (55.15) and third in the 200 IM (2:04.28). She helped the 200 Medley Relay finish sixth and the 800 free relay finish fourth. Ungo Quero also helped the 400 free relay finish eighth. This marks the second time this year in which the PSAC has recognized the senior.

The Golden Ram divers were also in action just before Thanksgiving, competing in the two-day TCNJ Diving Invitational. On the second day, Lenya Ryan (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) was third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.75, while Koehle was fifth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.47. Maddy Koehle (State College, Pa./State College) placed this in the 200 breaststroke with a B time of 2:16.60, while Dani Stewart (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) was fifth in the 1650 free on the final day of the Invitational. 

PREPARING FOR THE BREAK

Friday night will be the Golden Rams' last home meet of 2024. The team will be back in action on January 22nd vs. Penn in the first of two straight at home. The Golden Rams will also welcome NYU to the Borough on January 25 for the final home meet of the 2024-25 season.
