West Chester Women Extend Lead on Day 2 at PSACs

MEET RESULTS

CARLISLE, PA – West Chester University's women's swim team extended its stranglehold on the rest of the conference following Day 2 at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships inside the Keystone Aquatics Center in Carlisle Thursday evening.
 
West Chester is way out in front with 861 points. Clarion is second with 444 points.
 
The women's team made it 2-for-2 on relays to open Thursday's evening session by taking the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1 minute, 33.18 seconds.
 
Sophomore Isabella Kil (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) finished runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a 56.52 seconds during Thursday's first individual event. Classmate Mallory Pardoe (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) was sixth in 57.44.
 
Sophia Gerhart (Spring Mills, Pa./Penn Valley Area) and Lenya Ryan (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) finished first and second, respectively in the 400 Individual Medley. Gerhart paced the field with a time of 4:22.72 while Ryan was right behind in 4:25.17.
 
Five Golden Rams were in the 'A' final of the 200 free. West Chester captured first, second, fourth, sixth and seventh. Keeley Durkin (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) was again a PSAC champion touching out in 1:50.84. Classmate Mikayla Niness (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was runner-up in 1:50.95 while Danielle Stewart (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) touched in 1:52.35. Samantha Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) and Madelyn Koehle (State College, Pa./State College Area) were sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
The 400 medley relay made it 3-for-3 with a first-place effort. That foursome finished in 3:46.70.
 
West Chester returns to action Friday morning with prelims at 10 a.m. in the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breaststroke and the 200 fly. Finals in those events start at 6 p.m. where the 200 medley relay starts things off in the evening.
