SPRINGFIELD, Ma.- The West Chester University women's rugby team (0-2) took to the road for its second road battle of the season against NIRA rival American International (2-0). West Chester battled throughout the evening and trailed by only a score early in the match after a successful
Emma Davies (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) penalty kick but the hosts answered quickly and posted an 84-3 victory over the visiting Golden Rams.
AIC drew first blood with a successful try and conversion to jump out to an early 7-0 lead. Davies cut the deficit down to just two only two minutes later after a successful penalty kick.
The Yellow Jackets wasted little time in extending their lead, quickly jumping back out to a 17-3 lead with just over 23 minutes to play until the midway point of the match. AIC found its stride as the half progressed, stretching its lead to 43-3.
The second half told a similar tale for West Chester as the host Yellow Jackets continued to push en route to an 84-3 victory over the visiting Golden Rams.
