JOHNSTOWN, Pa.- Connor Strine (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) fired an opening round two-under 68 after carding four birdies on the front nine to finish the first round in second individually and help West Chester to sit in fifth in the team standings after the first day of the UPJ Sunnehanna Collegiate with an opening-round score of 293.
Strine birdied the par-four third to start his round before also carding birdies on the par-four sixth and eighth and the par-five ninth and 11th to reside around the top of the leaderboard throughout the first round on Monday afternoon.
Mattia Parrini finished the first round atop the individual leaderboard at three-under after four birdies on the back nine, including the par-four 18th to finish his opening round with a 67. Parrini also helped Gannon sit atop the team leaderboard after the first round with an opening-round score of 285 (+5)
