SWIMMERS REMAIN HOME SATURDAY AFTERNOON

West Chester remains home on Saturday for its second meet of the week after opening 2025 against Ivy-league member Penn on Wednesday night. Saturday's meet will serve as Senior Day for the Golden Rams as the Purple and Gold look to help their seniors have a memorable final home meet against the Violets of NYU.
NYU enters Saturday an impressive 4-1 on the year after a dominant 157-97 victory over Gettysburg last Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT

West Chester opened 2025 with a challenging meet against Penn on Wednesday night, and while the Golden Rams fell to the visiting Quakers, the Purple and Gold did see several strong swims throughout the evening. Madelyn Koehle (State College, Pa./State College) was a double winner for West Chester, capturing the 100 and 200 breaststroke in times 1:06.08 and 2:18.52, respectively. Sam Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) recorded back-to-back second-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free in 24.27 and 53.18 seconds. Lenya Ryan (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) took third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.08 while also finishing second in the 400 IM in 4:41.16. Susana Ungo-Quero (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Sagrada Familia) also registered a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 57.35 seconds, along with a third-place finish in the 200 fly in 2:07.00.  In diving action, West Chester was led by Alicia McHugh (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) who picked up a pair of fifth place finishes off the three and one-meter boards with scores of 210.98 and 204.23, respectively.

BUT FIRST

Before Saturday's meet, West Chester will pause to recognize its graduating class and thank them for all their hard work and dedication to our program throughout their careers. This ceremony is expected to begin at approximately 10:50 a.m., so fans are encouraged to arrive early.

TIME TO PREPARE

Saturday is West Chester's last swim meet of the regular season before the PSAC Championships begin on February 17. When action gets underway in York in just over three weeks, West Chester will be hunting for its 22nd PSAC crown and 17th in 18 years. The lone exception to the Golden Rams' reign of dominance since 2007 was 2021, when they did not compete in the conference meet due to COVID-19 restrictions.

COMING UP FOR THE GOLDEN RAMS

West Chester has a pair of diving only events remaining on the schedule with those coming on February 1 at La Salle and February 7-8th at Clarion before shifting its attention to the PSAC Championships in York, Pennsylvania beginning on Monday, February 17.
