Men's Golf Finishes in Tie for Second at Metropolitan Intercollegiate

WEST ORANGE, N.J.- Patrick Carl (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll)
used a birdie on the par-four ninth and an eagle on the par-five 10th to shoot a 77 and finish third (+7; 70, 77; 147) on the individual leaderboard at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. Carl was one of two Golden Rams in the top-10 as he was joined by Evan Jozwiak (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) in sixth at +9 (74, 75; 149) and helped lead West Chester to a second-place team finish with a 36-hole score of 609 (295, 314). West Chester led after day one but shot a 314 on day two as Seton Hall stormed back to capture the team title by three strokes over the Golden Rams in the final Tournament of the fall season.

West Chester, the top Division II finishing program, led the field in eagles with two and was second in the field in pars with 95. West Chester also ranked second in the field in par-three scoring average at 3.52 (+21) and led the field in par-five scoring average at 4.80 (-4).

Carl and Jozwiak were leading pieces in this effort as Carl had the second-best par-three scoring average in the field at 3.13 (+1), while Jozwiak and Carl tied for first in par-five scoring average at 4.50 (-2).  Carl and Jozwiak were two of six players in the field to record an eagle and Carl also ranked third in the field in pars with 22 over the course of the 36-hole Tournament.

West Chester wrapped up its fall season ranked third in the region with two Tournament victories, including the PSAC Championship, and finished in the top three in all six Tournaments. The Golden Rams will look to continue this momentum in the Spring season, which will conclude with West Chester returning to the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament.
