BEDFORD, Pa.- The West Chester University men's golf team is tied for sixth after the opening round of the Bedford Springs Intercollegiate at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort with an opening round of 301 on Monday morning. West Chester is just a stroke out of a tie for third and six strokes off the lead heading into the second round on Tuesday.
Patrick Carl (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) led West Chester in the first round on Tuesday with a one-over 73 that has him seventh on the individual leaderboard as the lone Golden Ram in the top-10.
Carl recorded a birdie on the par-three second, an eagle on the par-four sixth, along with birdies on the par-four 12
th and par-three 17
th in a strong opening round on Monday. Carl is the only player in the field to record an eagle in Monday's opening round.
Hector Arriaga of Glenville State and Adam Gill of West Liberty are tied for the individual lead with two-under rounds of 70 to open the Tournament as West Liberty also leads in the team standings with an opening round of 295.
