POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- The West Chester University women's rugby team (1-2) is set to return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon for its first match of October when the team heads to New York to take on Bowdoin (3-0) in a neutral-site match at Vassar College beginning at 1p.m.

Looking for its first win of the season, West Chester remained home on Saturday afternoon to take on NIRA Division II foe New Haven (0-4) for its final match of September. West Chester took an early lead on an
Alyssa Miller (Philadelphia, Pa./Girard Academic Music Program) try, but found itself tied at 17-17 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.
Christelle Adikpeto (Abomey Calavi, Benin/Moon Area) scored her first of three trys on the day in the 36
th minute, and
Emma Davies (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) hit the conversion before hitting a penalty kick just before the break to give West Chester a 27-17 lead at the half. West Chester outscored its guests 35-12 in the second half, including a pair of trys by Adikpeto and trys from
Sofia Lasonio (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and
Bridget Kowalski (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) to cruise to the 33-point victory. Davies had a strong day for West Chester, accounting for 17 points through the kicking game, while Adikpeto scored 15 points with her three trys.
Second Half Surge
West Chester broke open a close match that was tied at 17-17 with 30 minutes gone, outscoring New Haven 45-12 in the final 50 minutes to cruise to the 62-29 victory.
Where She Left Off
Adikpeto scored three trys last week and now has four on the young season after also scoring in the season-opening loss at Davenport earlier in September. The sophomore is picking up right where she left off last fall as she scored nine trys in her rookie campaign last year.
On The Road Again
After two straight home matches, the West Chester University women's rugby team heads back out on the road this week for the neutral-site match with the Polar Bears. Following the match in New York, West Chester will return to South Campus to host Emory & Henry next weekend for Senior Day before concluding October and the regular season at Mount St. Mary's and Frostburg State on October 18 and 25.
Scouting Bowdoin
West Chester will take on an unbeaten Bowdoin side on Saturday afternoon, which has outscored foes 147-70 through its first three matches of the season. Bowdoin opened the year with a 79-33 thumping of New Haven before defeating Northeastern 21-17 and Frostburg State 41-20 to conclude September.

West Chester will return home next Saturday for its final home match of the campaign against Emory & Henry, beginning at 11 a.m. The Golden Rams are expected to honor their senior class before the start of the match.
