Men's Soccer Lands Four on All-PSAC East Squad

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its men's soccer All-Conference selections on Wednesday afternoon. West Chester had four players honored as Ian Alicea (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland), Luke Newman (Mission Viejo, Cal./Santa Margarita Catholic), and Owen Slack (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) were named to the First Team, while Maksym Komperda (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) landed on the Second Team.

Slack and Alicea are both now three-time All-League honorees, as Alicea was named to the second team each of the last two seasons, while Slack has been a first-team selection every year. Komperda is a two-time All-League pick after earning first-team honors a year ago.

Slack is one of two captains for the Golden Rams this season and turned in an excellent senior season, scoring three goals and adding seven assists in the regular season for 13 points before scoring his first game-winning goal of the year via a penalty kick in the PSAC Quarterfinals against Lock Haven on Monday. Slack led the team in assists and played a significant role defensively, helping guide the Golden Rams back to the PSAC Tournament for the ninth year in a row in 2025.

Newman had a tremendous first year as a Golden Ram, scoring a pair of goals and adding six assists for 10 points. Newman was tied with Slack for the team lead in assists for much of the season before Slack earned an assist on the final goal of the regular season against Shippensburg to take a slim 7-6 lead in helpers heading into the PSAC Tournament.

Alicea, who is also a captain for West Chester, is the final first-team honoree and had another outstanding season in 2025, scoring three goals for six points, while continuing to anchor the Golden Ram backline. A force defensively and a strong voice in the back, Alicea helped direct traffic throughout the season and helped limit opponents to 1.22 goals per game and 12.5 shots per game, with less than half of those shots finding their way on target.

Komperda finished the regular season as the team's leader in scoring with a team-high six goals and one assist for 13 points, with one game-winning goal to his credit. The junior enjoyed an outstanding stretch of soccer earlier this fall, scoring a goal in four straight games, including a pair at Southern Connecticut State on September 13, which sparked the run. Perhaps his most important goal of the year came against Shippensburg in the regular-season finale as he scored late to send the Golden Rams back to the PSAC Tournament.

West Chester will be back in action on Friday in the PSAC Semifinals at Gannon beginning at 2 p.m. as the Golden Rams look for their second PSAC Championship game appearance in three seasons.
