Meet Notes
KENOSHA, Wi.- When
Josh Miller (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) begins his race at the Division II Cross Country National Championships on Saturday afternoon on the Wayne E. Dannehl Championship Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he will be the first Golden Rams men's cross country runner to compete at the Division II Men's National Championships since Josh Coakley in 2019.
Miller is the first Golden Ram to qualify for the National Championships from either gender since Sarah Supplee competed for the Golden Rams in the 2021 National Championships in Florida at the end of that season.
Miller as has a year to remember for the Golden Rams as he started the season with a victory in the DII/DIII Challenge at Kutztown, which led to him earning PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors before capturing First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region honors at the PSAC and NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.
Miller started his year with a first-place finish in the DII/DIII Challenge in 25 minutes and 54.9 seconds on September 13 before setting an 8K PR at the Paul Short Invitational as he finished eighth in the Brown Division race in 24:39.9.
Following his strong effort at the Paul Short, Miller returned to action in the PSAC Championships in late October in Edinboro, finishing fifth and earning First Team All-League honors in 24:56.0 as he helped the Golden Rams to their best team finish since 1971.
Two weeks later, Miller returned to the course in Lock Haven for the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships and traversed the 10K course in a new personal-best time of 30:39.5 to finish sixth. Miller narrowly missed out on an automatic bid to the Championships, falling one spot short of an automatic transfer, but earned his spot the following Monday as an at-large selection.
Miller will be joined in Wisconsin by fellow PSAC program Shippensburg, along with Mike Formica of Indiana (Pa.) and Jonathan Thrush of California (Pa.) as the PSAC participants in this year's Championship.
The men's race is the second race of the day on Saturday and is set to begin at 12:15 eastern, 11:15 local time. Fans can follow
