LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- Josh Miller (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) finished sixth in 30 minutes and 39.50 seconds to lead the West Chester University men's cross country team to a seventh-place team finish at the NCAA Atlantic Region Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Miller's sixth-place finish left the junior just shy of an automatic bid to the National Championships in Wisconsin on November 22. Miller earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors and will have an excellent chance to earn a spot in the field as an at-large selection. The full field Championship field will be announced early next week.
Nicholas Forman (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) was the next Golden Ram across the line in 53
rd in 32:43.9, followed by
Jason Vogt (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) in 57
th in 32:55.3.
Aaron Marcus (Easton, Pa./Easton) was 63
rd in 33:04.5, followed by
Matt Remishofski (Wall, N.J./Wall) in 74th in 33:19.5, followed by Matthew Landis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) in 87th in 33:31.8, and
Gavin Sheetz (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) in 104
th in 34:23.7.
Shippensburg won the team title with a score of 60, and along with Charleston and Davis & Elkins earned automatic team bids to the National Championships later this month. Brian Kirpop and Franklin Kipchirchir of Fayetteville State finished first and second in 30:19.40 and 30:20.80, respectively. Mike Formica from IUP was the third and final individual to punch his ticket to Wisconsin on Saturday as he finished fourth in 30:25.70.
