Last Time Out

West Chester was back in action last weekend, splitting a pair of road matches at Shippensburg and Shepherd. On Friday night at Shippensburg, Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) led West Chester in kills with eight. Still, it was not enough to help the visitors escape Heiges Field House with a victory over the PSAC-East-leading Raiders, who won 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-21). On Saturday at Shepherd, West Chester exacted sweet revenge for a 3-1 loss in Hollinger earlier this season with a 3-1 win inside the Butcher Athletic Center to split the season series with the Rams. West Chester made short work of the first two sets, winning 25-16 and 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead. Shepherd battled back and won the third set 25-21 and nearly took the fourth, but West Chester closed out the match with a 26-24 fourth-set victory to win 3-0 over the Rams. Lane led West Chester in kills with 13, along with three aces and a block, while Lacie Brown (Cochranville, Pa./Avon Grove) led West Chester in aces with five. Brown also led the Golden Rams in assists with 34, as she usually does.

Flock Talk

Zoe Haines (York, Pa./York Suburban) added 10 kills of her own in the win on Saturday and leads the team in kills with 248, while Lane is second with 230. Brown leads West Chester in assists and aces with 781 assists and 43 aces, while ranking second in digs with 192, trailing only Elianna Freeman (Jersey Village, Texas/Jersey Village) and her 225 digs. Julia Kwitchoff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield)is first in blocks with 66 and third in kills with 156, while CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) is second in blocks with 45 and fourth in kills with 139.

That Was Big

West Chester's win over Shepherd on Saturday afternoon was the Golden Rams' first win over the Rams since 2011 and the first in West Virginia since 2010 as the team earned a crucial split in the season series to move to 17-6 overall and 6-4 in league play. This four-set road victory also kept West Chester in a tie for third in the PSAC East and two games clear of Kutztown and Lock Haven, who are chasing the Golden Rams for the potential final playoff spot.

Last of its Kind

Wednesday night is the Golden Rams' final non-league game of the year, as the team looks to finish non-league play at 12-2 heading into the final four league contests of the regular season.

Home Sweet Home

West Chester returns home this week for a final three-game homestand at 9-2 on the year, looking to halt a two-game losing streak in Hollinger after falling to Shippensburg and Shepherd by 3-1 finals on October 17 and 18. Prior to these setbacks, West Chester had dropped just three sets in Hollinger all season, with a 3-1 win over Felician and a 3-2 win over Lock Haven being the longest home matches of the campaign.

Series History

West Chester is 4-4 against Pace since the first meeting in 1994 and is 4-1 against the Setters since 2003, after opening the series with three losses in 1994, 1995, and 1997.

Scouting Pace

Pace (9-9) visits Hollinger on Wednesday night as the Setters begin their last road swing of the season with a visit to Pennsylvania to start the week before trekking to Worcester, Massachusetts, to take on Assumption on November 8 at 1 p.m. The Setters are just 1-6 in their last seven matches, with the lone win during that stretch being a 3-1 win at Southern New Hampshire on October 28, which was the team's first win since a 3-1 victory over Queens (N.Y.) to start October and halted a two-match losing streak back on October 4. On Saturday, Pace welcomed NE-10 leader Bentley (20-4, 8-0) to Pleasantville and fell to the Falcons by a 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22) final.
Kadence Ackmann leads the team in kills with 181 and is also tied for the team lead in aces with 30, while ranking second in digs, trailing only Alice Bender, who has 238 digs along with 30 aces of her own. Aralyn Saulys is first on the team in assists with 343, while Emily Cineus leads the group in blocks with 62. Cyanna Shirley is second in blocks with 45 and is third in kills with 105.

Up Next

West Chester will play its final weekend of conference play at home, as Kutztown visits Hollinger for an important battle on Friday night before East Stroudsburg comes to town on Saturday, which will be Senior Day for the Golden Rams. Friday's match against Kutztown will be Summer Camper Night, and the annual Food Drive match ahead of Senior Day on Saturday.
