BERLIN, Md.- The West Chester University men's golf team was back on the course on Friday for the opening round of the Battle at Rum Pointe at the Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Maryland. Competing against a primarily Division I field, West Chester is tied for ninth on the team leaderboard after day one with a 303 team score, while Colgate and Fairfield are tied for first at 288.
Connor Strine (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and
Alex Marchetti (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) are both in a tie for 11
th at one-over par after signing for 73s on the first day of competition in Maryland. Strine and Marchetti both made the turn at two-over par and shot one-under 35s on the back nine as Strine birdied the par-five 10th, par-three 14th, and par-four 18th, while Marchetti carded birdies on the par-three 14th and par-three 17th.
