WASHINGTON, D.C.- The West Chester University women's rugby team opened competition at the Collegiate Rugby 7's Championships at the Maryland Soccer Plex just outside of Washington, D.C., on Saturday morning.
West Chester started its day with a narrow 10-0 setback vs Navy before toppling Adrian (29-5) to advance to the Bowl Semifinal against Southern Nazarene on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Against Navy, West Chester found itself in a good battle throughout the match as things were tied at 0-0 at the half before the Midshipmen found a pair of tries in the second half to escape with a 10-0 victory in the rubber match against the Golden Rams.
Later in the afternoon, West Chester squared off against Adrian, looking to punch its ticket into the Bowl Semifinals on Sunday morning.
Ty Hickey scored three trys while
Camryn Snow and
Brooke Crago added one try each to help lead the Golden Ram offense. Lily Rhode converted two of the Golden Rams' five trys in the victory.
West Chester will face Southern Nazarene tomorrow at 11 a.m. With a win, West Chester will face the winner of Bowdoin/Mount St. Mary's in the Bowl Final on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
