Adam MacMillan (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) signed for a three-over 74 to help lead the West Chester University men's golf in the first round of the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational at Penn Oaks Golf Club on Monday afternoon. Playing through wet and cold conditions, West Chester finished the first round with a team score of 314, which was good enough for ninth on the team leaderboard.
Competing as an individual, D'Ariano finished the first round in a tie for second with an opening round 73, while MacMillan was the top player in the Golden Ram lineup, finishing the first round in a tie for eighth at three over.
Joey Leisinger of Shepherd is the individual leader after the first round at +1, with six players just a stroke back of him in second. Wilmington (295) holds a four-stroke lead over St. Thomas Aquinas (299) for second on the team leaderboard after the first day of play.
