LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- West Chester University senior
Maddy Koehle (State College, Pa./State College) was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Top 10 award recipient for the winter season it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The conference award, voted on by the league's sports information directors, is awarded to 10 student-athletes (five male/five female) each season with those recipients having to achieve a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
With her selection to the Winter Top 10, Koehle is now eligible for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar Athlete of the Year award, an honor given to the top overall PSAC student-athlete (male and female) at the end of the academic year.
Koehle added the PSAC Winter Top 10 award to her growing list of postseason accolades. She became the 53
rd West Chester University student athlete to be honored as a PSAC Top 10 award winner and the eighth different women's swimmer. It marks the fourth straight in which a Golden Rams swimmer has represented the Purple and Gold on the list.
Koehle became a three-time First Team All-American in the 200 breast this season as she finished eighth at the NCAA Division II Championships in 2:16.98, while also competing in the prelims of the 100 breast and 200 IM. At the PSAC Championships, Koehle helped West Chester to its 22
nd crown in as many Championships with a first-place finish in the 200 breast in 2:17.21, along with second and third-place finishes in the 100 breast and 200 IM in 1:04.24 and 2:04.62, respectively.
Koehle was joined on the women's Winter Top-10 team by Luna Castellanos (Clarion), Samantha Gilbert and Anna Igims (Slippery Rock), and Mia Kalich of Seton Hill. The men's honorees included David Bocci (Clarion), Tommy Crum Jr. (Shippensburg), Cole Gorham (East Stroudsburg), Matthew Muthler (Lock Haven), and Kolos Nagy (West Chester).
Koehle and Nagy are the first Golden Ram swimming duo to be recognized since Nadia Mulder and Dylan North were honored together in 2018-19.
