PUEBLO, Col. - Following an outstanding 2025 Outdoor Track and Field season, which served as an encore performance after an impressive 2024-25 indoor season and a strong 2024 Outdoor campaign last Spring, Derrick Lukomski Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) is preparing for the Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Colorado State-Pueblo this weekend. Lukomski Pizzo will compete on Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern Time/5 p.m. Mountain Time.
The Thunderwolves have launched a Championship Central page, which is available
here. Tickets for the Championships can be purchased
here and are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors (65+), while an All-Session pass is available for $35 for adults and $20 for students/seniors.
Lukomski-Pizzo heads to Colorado to compete in the discus, entering the weekend with the fourth-best mark in the field after winning the discus with a program-record setting mark of 185 feet 10 inches (56.64m) at the PSAC Championships earlier in May. This was an eight-inch (.21m) improvement over his previous program record mark of 56.43, which he set in the discus at Penn Relays.
Lukomski-Pizzo also took seventh in the shot put at the PSAC Championships at Slippery Rock earlier this month, registering a mark of 52-5 ½ (15.99m).
Lukomski-Pizzo is the first Golden Ram to qualify for the Outdoor Championships since Ralph Casper competed at CSU-Pueblo in 2023, taking fifth in the discus with a mark of 177-5 (54.09) before winning the National Championship in the shot put with a mark of 63-2 ¾ (19.27m) in his fifth throw of the night.
