ORLANDO, Fl.- The West Chester University cheerleading team enjoyed a historic weekend at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National Championships in Orlando, Florida. The Golden Rams competed in three Divisions for the first time in program history, competing in the Game Day (All Girl Division I Game Day) Division, Traditional (All Girl Division I), and Partner Stunt (Girls 4 Group Stunt), making their program debut in the Traditional and Partner Stunt Divisions.
"I'm extremely proud of this team and everything they've accomplished this season," started head coach
Autumn Hudson. "This marked the first time West Chester competed in three Divisions, and the success we experienced speaks to their commitment and hard work. We're beyond grateful for the chance to represent WCU on the biggest stage in collegiate cheerleading."
In the Game Day Division, West Chester punched its ticket to the National Finals with a Semifinal performance on Friday that saw the team record a score of 95.633. In the National Finals, once again on Saturday, West Chester scored a 96.4 to climb from fourth place after the semifinals to second. Sacred Heart won the title for the second year in a row and claimed its sixth UCA National Championship in program history.
West Chester also made history on Friday as the quartet of
Isabella Perry,
Adelyn Mariani,
Aubreigh Rogers, and
Julia Hunt competed in the Stunt Division for the first time in program history and placed 16
th with a score of 72.4
In addition to its second-place finish in the Game Day Division on Saturday, West Chester also made its debut in the Traditional Division on Saturday, punching its ticket to the finals with a score of 77.05, which was ninth-best in the field.
The Golden Rams concluded their historic weekend on Sunday in the Traditional Finals with a 72.75 to finish 10
th and add yet another trophy to their growing trophy case.
