Five Things to Know
  1. West Chester returns to action after falling at Division I foe La Salle on Saturday afternoon by a 73-3 final. The Explorers jumped out to an early lead and despite a Nina McDowell (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg) penalty kick in the first half, West Chester was unable to mount a comeback in the loss.
  2. McDowell is the Golden Rams leading scorer so far this season with two trys, five conversions, and a penalty kick for 23 points. Christelle Adikpeto (Abomey Calavi, Benin/Moon Area) is first on the team in trys with three.
  3. Frostburg State enters play on Saturday at 3-3 on the year and 1-1 in NIRA action with a 58-5 loss at Davenport in mid-September before bouncing back with a 20-17 win over Bowdoin in New York in early October. Frostburg also has a 75-0 win over Emory & Henry and a 15-12 win over Mount St. Mary's in and around a 94-0 loss to Princeton and a 40-30 loss to LIU at Kutztown on October 18.
  4. West Chester is 3-0 in limited history against Frostburg State with a 37-12 win in its first meeting, a 44-3 win in West Chester in September 2024 and a 30-20 win at Frostburg last October.
  5. With a win on Saturday afternoon, West Chester will move into a three-way tie with Bowdoin and Frostburg State at 1-2 on the season and, dependent upon NIRA tiebreaks (point differential), the Golden Rams may rise to as high as the second seed, which would lead to them hosting a NIRA Semifinal on South Campus on November 14.
