FROSTBURG, Md.- The West Chester University women's rugby team (1-6, 0-3) took to the road on Saturday afternoon for its road finale at Frostburg State (4-3, 2-1). Looking for an important National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) Division II victory, which would have given West Chester a chance to host a home semifinal in the opening round of the NIRA Tournament later in November, West Chester jumped out to an early lead but fell to the host Bobcats by a 27-7 final.
West Chester opened the scoring early, scoring the first and eventually its only try of the match on a 50-meter breakaway run by
Camryn Snow (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) before a successful conversion by
Addy LaCarrubba (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) gave the Golden Rams an early 7-0 lead.
Frostburg State answered quickly, scoring 27 unanswered to erase the visitors' early lead, including multiple long runs in the final 20 minutes of the match to earn a crucial 27-7 victory over the Golden Rams.
