WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's rugby team returned to action on Sunday for the WCU 7s Invitational on South Campus on Sunday morning. West Chester went 3-3-1 on the weekend as the Purple team went 1-3, while the gold squad was 2-0-1.
Sofia Lasonio (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and
Bridget Kowalski (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) led West Chester with two trys each, while
Emma Davies (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) added a try and four conversions for 13 points on the day to lead the Purple team in scoring.
Purple started the day with a 26-0 loss to Princeton and bounced back with a 19-12 win over Frostburg State before falling to Navy (40-7) and La Salle (33-21) to finish out the day.
Paige Binderup (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) led the Gold team in scoring with three trys while
Christelle Adikpeto (Abomey-Calavi, Benin/Moon Area) and
Cheyanne Anderson (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had two trys each. The Golden Rams gold squad played Princeton throughout the day, winning two of the three matchups by 15-5 finals before playing to a 10-10 tie to finish the day.
