Women's Golf Selected to NCAA East Regional Championships at Findlay Country Club

Golden Rams Begin Second Appearance in Program History in First Round on May 4

Full NCAA Release
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- For the second time in program history and the first time since 2018-19, the West Chester University women's golf team learned that its 2025-26 season will continue in May as the Golden Rams earned an at-large selection to the NCAA East Regional Championships at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. First-round play is set to begin on May 4 and continue through May 6.

West Chester enters the Championships as an At-Large selection for the first time in program history after finishing a close second to now seven-time defending Champion Gannon at the PSAC Women's Golf Championships at Berkleigh Country Club last week. West Chester and Gannon are the lone PSAC programs to qualify for the Regional Championships, and two of three from the traditional Atlantic Region, with Charleston (W.V.) being the lone other. Gannon enters the Championships as the eighth seed, Charleston as the 13th, and West Chester as the 17th.

Findlay is the host and the top seed along with Grand Valley State, U Indy, Missouri-St. Lous, Ferris State, Ashland, Tiffin, Gannon Lewis, McKendree, Maryville, Davenport, Charleston, Wayne State, Northwood, Saginaw Valley State, West Chester, and Adelphi.

West Chester turned in eight top-three finishes in 2025-26, including six victories (four-of-five fall Tournaments) and a second-place finish at the PSAC Women's Golf Championships last week with a 54-hole score of 946, just eight strokes back of seven-time defending Champion Gannon. Hanna Lignell (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium) and Fatima Rizvi (Lucknow, India/RPS Academies) finished in a tie for fourth at +18 (76,80, 78 / 76, 82, 76; 234), respectively.

West Chester is making its first NCAA East Regional appearance since 2018-19, when the team earned the automatic bid from the PSAC after winning its first PSAC Tournament crown in the fall of 2018-19. Bridget Pyott led West Chester at this Tournament with a 19th-place finish with a 54-hole score of 234 as one of two Golden Rams, along with teammate Meghan O'Mara, to shoot a round of under 80 at the Regional as West Chester finished 10th with a 54-hole score of 974.

Finishing its third campaign under the tutelage of head coach Chris Merce, West Chester sends both its men's and women's programs to the Regional Championships in the same season for the first time since 2018-19 and the second time in team history. Merce will be busy in the coming weeks as his run with the women's program will last May 4-6 before he joins the men's program at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown for the Atlantic/East Regional Championships on May 7-9.
