CLEVELAND, OH- Following an excellent Spring 2026 season, which saw West Chester return to the NCAA Tournament in baseball, softball, women's lacrosse, men's golf, and women's golf and advance to the Division II Baseball National Championship series, West Chester University finished 33rd with 475 total points in the final Division II Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, as announced the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on Tuesday evening.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
The 2025-26 season was an outstanding year for the Golden Rams as West Chester qualified for the NCAA's and scored points in field hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, baseball, softball, women's lacrosse, and men's and women's golf.
West Chester was 46th in the rankings at the end of the winter season with 236.50 total points, after scoring 156 points in the fall season and 80.50 more in the winter. West Chester scored 238.50 points in the spring to finish with 475 points overall in a tie for 33rd with Adelphi. This is the Golden Rams' highest finish in the Directors' Cup standings since an 11th-place finish in 2023 and marks the seventh time since 2018 that West Chester has finished the year in the top 40.
West Chester used its second-place finish in baseball (90), along with a ninth-place finish in women's lacrosse (45 points) to score 145 of its 238.50 spring points. West Chester men's and women's golf combined for 79 points with 33rd-place finishes, scoring 40 and 39 points, respectively. West Chester softball was the final Golden Ram team to score points in the Spring season, scoring 25 points with a 49
th-place finish as the Golden Rams returned to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row and the 14th time under head coach Diane Lokey.
West Chester is the third-highest PSAC program in the rankings, trailing only East Stroudsburg and Gannon, who finished in a tie for 20th with 527 points each.
Grand Valley State claimed the Learfield Directors' Cup once again with 1,089.75 points, including the National Championship in men's track and field following an outstanding winter season, which saw the Lakers score 528.50 points, led by a women's basketball National Championship and top-five finishes by men's track and field and women's wrestling.
In addition to this strong finish in the Directors' Cup, West Chester also reclaimed the PSAC's F. Eugene Dixon Trophy for the first time since 2018-19 and the sixth time overall. The Dixon Trophy is presented to the institution that accumulates the top score based on results of conference playoffs and/or regular-season records and is named in honor of F. Eugene Dixon, Jr, the former chairman of the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education.
