WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University landed five females on the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's At-Large All-District Squad it was announced.
Two field hockey stars,
Sofia Brown (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) and
Veerle Hersman (Lisse, The Netherlands) appeared on the squad along with lacrosse teammates
Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and
Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) and women's gymnastics standout
Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
All five Golden Rams are making their initial appearance on the all-district team. Hersman, Edinger and Wasdick advanced to the national ballot and will be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, which will be announced later this month.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially funded by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with award fulfillment for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
Brown scored four goals and assisted on seven others and managed to record three defensive saves playing all over the pitch in the fall for West Chester's field hockey program that reached the national semifinals. Her seven assists led the Golden Rams while helping her earn all-conference plaudits at the end of the year.
Hersman, the NFHCA Division II National Scholar-Athlete, led the Golden Rams field hockey squad in scoring with 16 goals and 36 points. The Division II first-team, All-American registered five game-winning goals and tallied multiple goals in a game 12 times in the fall.
Edinger and Wasdick were each named US Lacrosse All-Americans while Wasdick was also an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) first team All-American. Wasdick ranked second on the team in goals scored (64) and listed third overall in scoring (84 points). She also ranked among the nation's leaders in draw controls with 110. Edinger set a school record by appearing in 85 games during her college career and ranks ninth all-time at WCU in career draw controls with 159. They helped West Chester to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament this spring.
Eskew was a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championship (WCGNIC) first-team All-American on the vault for the Golden Rams' team that finished fourth at nationals inside Hollinger Field House this past season. She was also the president of the Student-Athlete Advisor Committee (SAAC) while maintaining such a high grade-point average in biomechanical engineering.
