DOMINICAN, N.Y. - Jenna Arnold and Sarah Oswald tallied goals for the visitors as No. 7 West Chester defeated host Dominican, 2-0, in a women's soccer opener Saturday afternoon.
West Chester limited Dominican to just four shots in the contest, and starting goalkeeper Hilary Smart made just one save in the win.
Arnold scored on an assist from Brittany Yetter in the 23rd minute to put the Rams up 1-0. Oswald added an unassisted tally in the 48th minute for insurance.
Dominican goalie Valentina Sturchio made six saves as West Chester outshot its opponent 17-4.
West Chester (1-0) returns home Wednesday for its league opener against Millersville on South Campus.
