LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University junior defender Jessica Bennet has been named to the PSAC Fall Top 10 Award list, as selected by the conference’s sports information directors it was announced Thursday morning.
A first team CoSIDA Academic All-America® pick in November and first team All-PSAC East selection, Bennett is an Elementary Education major with a 4.00 grade-point average. She is a three-year starter on defense, who led the 17th-ranked Golden Rams to a 19-2-1 record and a PSAC championship this past fall. In addition to scoring five goals with two assists, the Littlestown, Pa. native contributed to a West Chester defense that posted 17 shutouts with a nation’s best 0.21 goals-against average.
Bennett becomes the first West Chester University athlete to be named a seasonal top 10 award winner since Katie Kline was a Winter Top 10 Award recipient in 2007-08. Bennett is the first Fall Top 10 Award winner since fellow women’s soccer star Julie Karcher in 2006.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
