Golden Rams Swimmers Place Third At Terrapin Cup

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – West Chester University’s men’s swimming squad placed third in a very competitive field at the Terrapin Cup inside the Eppley Recreation Natatorium on the campus of University of Maryland Saturday night.

Swimming against four Division I programs and a highly competitive Division III program, West Chester showed its mettle in a meet that is set up to mirror the NCAA Championships. The Golden Rams accumulated 434 points in the three-day meet, falling behind only host Maryland (1,268) and fellow ACC opponent North Carolina State (1,019). The Rams finished ahead of William & Mary (342), Towson (262) and Johns Hopkins (230).

Bogdan Grebenyuk placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes, 3.87 seconds while teammate Mike DiMarco was right behind him at 2:03.91. Jared Haley was sixth in the 1650 freestyle in a time of 15:56.51. West Chester’s only other top eight finish came from the 400 free relay squad that timed out in 3:08.04. That foursome was made up of Tommy Rhoads, Alex Muraro, Andrew Miller and Ryan Stahley.

West Chester is off until the new year when the Golden Rams take part in the JHU Relays in Florida during winter break.
