Julia O'Brien (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) paced West Chester University with 12 kills as the host Golden Rams swept visiting Davis & Elkins, 3-0, in the first match of the second day of the Ram Fest Tournament inside Hollinger Field House.

West Chester (2-0) survived a scare in the second set, erasing a five-point deficit late to take it's first lead of the set at 23-22. The Rams went on to a 31-29 win in that set. West Chester captured the match with three wins of 25-19, 31-29 and 25-11 over Davis & Elkins (0-2).

The Golden Rams hit just .191 for the match. However, their percentage got progressively better, finishing the final set at .381 with only three errors.
Marina Sharkey (Newtown Square, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) posted seven kills in the win while registering 10 digs. It marked her second straight match in double figures in digs.

Macon Frey (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) handled the majority of the setting duties Saturday morning and led the Golden Rams with 17 assists.
Annalee Halbert (Port Murray, N.J./West Morris Central) was West Chester's other main setter. She recorded 13 assists.

Callie Krajcir (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) notched a team-best 17 digs.
Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led a stellar defensive effort with five blocks. West Chester posted 10 team blocks in the win, holding Davis & Elkins to a .036 hitting percentage in the match.

West Chester faces Philadelphia University at 4 p.m. in the final match of the 2014 Ram Fest Tournament to open the fall season.
