The West Chester University women's soccer team (12-4-1, 11-4-1 PSAC) is primed for a PSAC Tournament run beginning on Tuesday afternoon at home against No. 5 seed Lock Haven (11-4-1, 11-4-1 PSAC).

Admission for all rounds of the PSAC Tournament is $ 10 for adults, $ 5 for students who are not from a PSAC Institution and free of charge for any student from a PSAC Member school with valid ID. Fans are also reminded to park in Q lot across the street from Rockwell field as the lot adjacent to Rockwell Field will be reserved for handicap parking and game personnel.

This years PSAC Tournament appearance allows West Chester to continue its streak of making the PSAC Tournament as the Golden Rams have appeared in the Tournament every year since 2003. Additionally, Head Coach Betty Ann Kempf Townsley will be making her 12th consecutive PSAC Tournament appearance seeking to better her career PSAC Tournament record of 15-8 after going 2-1 in the Tournament in 2017.

West Chester and Lock Haven have already squared off once this season earlier in the month of October when the Golden Rams cruised to a 2-0 victory over the Bald Eagles. In the last meeting between these two sides, Kendall Rich (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) took an assist from Linzi Wolfe (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) to give West Chester a 1-0 lead heading to the half. In the second half, Wolfe scored a goal of her own taking an assist from Kaitlyn McFadden (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) to extend the lead to 2-0. Brooke Myers (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) was between the pipes for West Chester making four saves on the match to keep the potentially explosive Bald Eagle offense led by Mariah Foltz off the scoreboard.

The Golden Rams have had an up and down season particularly in the month of October. After West Chester opened its season with a draw the Golden Rams went on five-game winning streak and a 542 minute shutout streak before losing to Bloomsburg by a final score of 1-0. West Chester rebounded winnings its last two games to close out the month defeating Kutztown and Edinboro 1-0 to end the month with a 7-1-1 record overall and a mark of 6-1-1 in PSAC play.  October has had its challenges for the Golden Rams as the team has gone 5-3 through the month picking up wins over Mansfield, Shippensburg, Lock Haven, Indiana (Pa.), and Cal (Pa.) while dropping contests against Millersville, Gannon, and Slippery Rock. This 5-3 month has allowed West Chester to end the season with a respectable 12-4-1 record overall and a mark of 11-4-1 in conference play.

Offensively, West Chester has looked to the combined power of Madison Baxter (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East), Rich and Wolfe to lead the Golden Ram offensive attack in 2018. Baxter currently leads the team in all three major categories (goals, assists, and points) as she has eight goals and five assists on the year for 21 total points. This is thanks in large part to a career-high six point performance on Wednesday 10/24 against Mansfield.  Rich has been a pleasant surprise for West Chester this season as the freshman has been impressive this season scoring six goals for a total of 12 points on the year, giving West Chester great offensive depth coming off the bench. The senior Wolfe has also been a factor this season as she has 10 points on the year scoring three goals while adding four assists serving as a steadying force in the West Chester offense.

West Chester has been stout defensively for most of the 2018 season holding opponents to an average of just 8.8 shots per game with just over 50 percent of these shots finding their way on target. This has played a major role in helping West Chester to hold opponent to a scoring average of just 0.71 on the season. McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) has played the majority of the time in goal recording 1222 minutes between the pipes with a record of 9-4-1 and a goals against average of 0.74. Brooke Myers (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) has been the other option in goal for West Chester this season as she has played to a 3-0 record with a 0.53 goals against average over the course of 341 minutes in goal.

Lock Haven is a dangerous team to be sure as the Bald Eagles enter Tuesday's matchup with a record of 11-4-1 after splitting their final two games to close out the regular season.  Offensively, Mariah Foltz has given opposing defenses fits for most of the season as she leads the team with 17 goals and five assists for 34 points on the season. Foltz is tied for the conference lead in points with Kay Liebl from Millersville who also has 39 points on the year. West Chester managed to keep Foltz quiet in the team's last meeting as she managed just four total shots and two shots on goal. Haleigh Swam has also been a threat for Lock Haven this year as she has 19 points on the season thanks to nine goals and an assist in 2018 although she did not manage to take a shot in the last meeting between these two teams. Bree Hilty has seen the majority of the time in goal for Lock Haven playing 1477 minutes in goal with a record of 11-4-1 and a 0.97 goals against average.  Karly Trillhaase has also logged 15 minutes in goal making two saves against Mansfield.

With a win this afternoon West Chester would advance to Championship weekend once again in 2018 where the Golden Rams would square off against the winner of the 1/8 (Bloomsburg/Slippery Rock) matchup with that contest being played at the home of the highest remaining seed on Friday afternoon.
