SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - West Chester University men's track & field team competed in the Shippensburg Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at Shippensburg University. The Golden Rams competed against Bloomsburg, Dickinson, Seton Hill, Millersville, and host Shippensburg.
West Chester had a total of ten top five finishes in Wednesday's meet.
Sophomore
Chad Mowbray (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) claimed the top spot in the 400m in 50.06 seconds. Freshman
Matthew Fry (Reading, Pa./Wilson) finished not far behind in third in 50.97 seconds.
In the 1500m, sophomore
David Kramer (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) received fourth place in 4:15 minutes and freshman
Amir Cubbage (Glenside, Pa./Abington) took fifth with a 4:18 time.
Junior
Chase Knorr (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) claimed first place in the 300m steeple in 9 minutes and 38 seconds.
West Chester got second place in the 4 x 400m relay with the team of
Charles Bowman,
Mason Boyd,
Stephon Brown, and Fry. The relay team completed the race in a 3:18 time.
Freshman
Michael Nieman (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) took third place in the high jump with a 1.90m mark.
West Chester junior
Andrew Puz (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finshed second in the pole vault with a 4.10m mark.
Junior
Zahir Madyun (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) received fourth place in the triple jump with a 13.12m finish.
In the javelin throw, sophomore
Anthony Futrick (Sinking Springs, Pa./Wilson) took fifth place with a 46.67m mark.
The Golden Rams compete next at the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg University on Saturday, April 24. Events scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
