Harrison, Haughey, Hug, Kergides, and Raybold Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) released its Academic All-District soccer teams this afternoon and West Chester had three honorees as Nicolette Harrison (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge), Kaitlynn Haughey (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter), Jacqueline Hug (West Chester, Pa./Unionville), Kiley Kergides (Rydal, Pa./Germantown Academy), and Julia Raybold (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown).

In order to be eligible for this honor, student athletes must have been a starter or key reserve on their respective teams throughout the 2022 season, must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's games and must have at least a 3.50 GPA.

With this honor, Harrison, Haughey, Hug, Kergides, and Raybold all advance to the National Ballot where they will have the opportunity to be named a First-, Second-, or Third-team Academic All-American when those teams are released in early December.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.

Harrison, Haughey, Hug, and Raybold have all been significant offensive players for West Chester this season as they are four of the top six players on the team in scoring, led by Hug who leads the team in scoring with nine goals and six assists. Haughey, who was named PSAC East Player of the year, is third on the team in scoring with seven goals and six assists while Raybold and Harrison are fifth and sixth on the team in scoring with 12 points (5 goals and 2 assists) and seven points (3 goals and one assist), respectively.

Kergides, stepped in to fill a role on the backline, vacated by the graduation of 2021 All-American Micaela Berg and has done a tremendous job, helping West Chester slow some of the most dangerous offensive players in the Atlantic Region throughout the year, including Region Player of the Year Fran Soares Cupertino from West Virginia State. In addition to her defensive contributions, Kergides has also scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner over Bloomsburg in early October before adding a clutch assist in the PSAC Quarterfinal win over East Stroudsburg on November 1st.

West Chester is currently continuing its preparation for its third Atlantic Region Tournament Championship match in as many years, squaring off against Kutztown on Friday afternoon in Albany as the Golden Rams look to continue their stellar 2022 season with their first Regional Title since 2017.
