LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its women's soccer All-PSAC teams on Tuesday afternoon, and West Chester was well represented once again as
Faith Matter (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) earned Player of the Year honors, headlining five Golden Rams on the All-League teams.
Matter,
Jacqueline Graham (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), Alyson Cutter (Warrington, Pa./C.B. South), and
Kaitlynn Haughey (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) all earned First Team All-League honors, while
Julia Raybold (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) copped Second Team honors.
Matter, who was the PSAC East Rookie of the Year last season, becomes the second consecutive Golden Ram to pull the Rookie and Player of the Year double, following the footsteps of Haughey, who was Rookie of the Year in 2021 and Player of the Year in 2022. Matter ended the regular season with a team-high 24 points, scoring eight goals, including a league-high four game-winners and four assists, before adding a goal and an assist in the quarterfinal victory yesterday afternoon, increasing her point total to 27 on the year. After a terrific freshman campaign, which saw her finish with 25 points (eight goals/nine assists), the sophomore has duplicated and expanded on this success in 2023, helping to lead the Golden Rams throughout the season.
Cutter earns her first career All-League certificate, ending the regular season with six goals and a pair of assists for 14 points entering the postseason. Cutter also scored the game-winner in the PSAC Quarterfinals on Monday afternoon, notching her second winner of the season with an early first-half tally against ESU, helping to propel West Chester to the semifinal round of the PSAC Tournament for the second year in a row.
Haughey lands on the first team All-League squad for the third season in a row, turning in an outstanding 2023 season, which saw her score three goals, including the game-winner on September 23 vs Lock Haven, while assisting on another to help lead the Golden Ram offense throughout the season. Haughey also did a tremendous job in the midfield for West Chester this season, making a number of strong defensive plays to help slow opposing offenses.
Graham, the final First-Team selection, appears on the All-League squad for the second year in a row after earning Second-Team honors a season ago. The sophomore defender turned in another tremendous season on the backline for West Chester, holding down the outside-back role and helping West Chester to stymie opposing offenses throughout the season.
Raybold, the final All-Conference honoree for West Chester, appears on the All-League squad for the first time in her career, scoring three goals, including the game-winner vs Bloomsburg, while assisting on another to help lead West Chester back to the postseason once again in 2023. Raybold had a tremendous end to the 2023 regular season, scoring a goal in two (back-to-back games) of the Golden Rams final three games for the year.
West Chester returns to action on Friday against Mercyhurst in the PSAC Semifinals, marking the second year in a row in which the Golden Rams and Lakers have battled for a spot in the PSAC Championship game.
