EDINBORO, Pa.- Josh Miller (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) finished fifth in 24 minutes and 56 seconds to help lead the West Chester University men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the PSAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. Miller was one of two Golden Rams in the top-10 as he was joined by
Jason Vogt (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) in 10
th in 25:23.7.
These top-10 finishes, coupled with strong performances by the remainder of the Golden Ram lineup, helped West Chester record its best finish at a PSAC Championship under Director of Cross Country and Track and Field,
Colin Leak, and record what is believed to be the best team finish since its Championship in 1971. It bears noting that details regarding West Chester's potential participation in the PSAC Championships from 1972-80 are not available in the PSAC Digital archives.
West Chester finished just six points out of third place (Kutztown; 94)and just 22 out of second (East Stroudsburg; 78) while Shippensburg won the team title with a score of 40.
Miller and Vogt also grabbed First Team All-Conference honors by finishing in the top-15, while
Matt Remishofski (Wall, N.J./Wall) and
Nick Forman (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) earned Second Team honors with 23
rd and 26
th place finishes in 25:54 and 26:09.90, respectively.
Aaron Marcus (Easton, Pa./Easton) was next across the line in 38
th in 26:34.30 followed by
Jorge Rinker (Orfield, Pa./Parkland) in 66
th in 27:09.70.
Gavin Sheetz (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) and
Andrew Bradley (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) were next in 76
th and 79
th in 27:26.50 and 27:27.70, respectively.
Matt Landis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) finished 88
th in 27:44.30, followed by
Ellis Eppard (Gaithersburg, Md./Wooton) in 100
th in 27:54.50 and
Louie Edgcumbe (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) in 107
th in 28:12.70 to complete a historic day for the Golden Rams cross country program.
Mike Formica of Indiana (Pa.) won the individual title in 24:39.10, while Shippensburg, led by a second-place finish from Garrett Quinan in 24:40.30, captured the team title with a score of 78.
