West Chester halted a three-game winless streak in a big way on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Rams stunned 13
th-ranked Bloomsburg by a 1-0 final, handing the previously unbeaten Huskies their first loss of the 2025 season.

Owen Slack (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), which gave the hosts a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break. Bloomsburg outshot West Chester by a 23-14 margin overall, including a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal, but
Alexi Amanatidis (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./The Shipley School) was exceptional in goal, making a career-high 10 saves to earn his first shutout of the season and eventually earn PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Maksym Komperda (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) continues to lead West Chester in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points on the year. Slack picked up his team-best fifth assist of the year on Saturday, which, along with his two goals, has him ranked second on the team in scoring with nine points.
Luke Newman (Mission Viejo, Cal./Santa Margarita Catholic) has been exceptional in his first season as a Golden Ram, scoring two goals and adding four assists for eight points.
In goal,
Jaden Howard (Townsend, Del./Middletown) appeared and started in nine of the first 10 games of the season, playing to a record of 4-4-1 with a 1.78 goals-against average and one shutout. Amanatidis earned the starting nod in a win over Southern Connecticut State and has started each of the last three games, playing to a record of 2-1-1 with a 0.75 goals-against average and a shutout in his four starts this fall.
As He Goes
Slack, a senior captain for the Golden Rams, is second on the team in scoring with nine points. Slack finding his way into the scoring summary, whether via a goal or an assist, has been a positive sign for West Chester throughout the season, as the team is 5-0-1 when he scores a point and unbeaten in the last four such games.
We Are Honored
Making his fourth start of the year and third in a row, Amanatidis turned in his best effort of the year on Saturday, making 10 saves to quiet the Bloomsburg offense. Amanatidis is the first Golden Ram to be honored by the league office this season.
That Was Big
Saturday's win over No. 13 Bloomsburg was the Golden Rams' first over a top-25 foe this season and gave the Golden Rams an important season series split with the Huskies, while also thrusting the Purple and Gold back into the PSAC Tournament race.
Playoff Picture
With its win on Saturday, West Chester has put itself right back in the middle of the conversation for the PSAC Tournament, as the Golden Rams are tied with Bloomsburg for third in the PSAC East with 10 points. Millersville stretched its lead atop the East to six (16 points) at 5-1-1 and 8-3-3 overall, while East Stroudsburg is second with 13 points and a record of 8-5-2 overall and a mark of 4-2-1 in league play. Bloomsburg is now 6-1-6 overall and 2-1-4 in league play, while Shepherd and Shippensburg remain fifth and sixth at 2-5-0 and 0-4-3, respectively.
The Rivalry
West Chester holds a slim 29-25-6 lead in the all-time series against Millersville after going 2-1-1 against the Marauders in the last four meetings. West Chester opened the season series with a win to start October and is going for its first regular-season sweep of Millersville since 2021, when the team fell to the Marauders by a 2-1 final in overtime in the PSAC Quarterfinals. West Chester and Millersville's rivalry has only grown more intense in recent years, as the Golden Rams and Marauders have faced off numerous times in the PSAC Tournament, including the quarterfinals last November and the PSAC Championship game in 2023.
Scouting Millersville
Millersville (8-3-3, 5-1-1) enters play on Wednesday riding a three-game winning streak and a six-game (5-0-1) unbeaten streak with the lone non-win being a 1-1 draw at Bloomsburg on October 11. After falling to West Chester 2-1 to open East play, Millersville has not lost since, playing some of its best soccer in recent weeks to jump into first place in the standings with 16 points.
Millersville picked up another win on Saturday, defeating Shippensburg by a 1-0 final, courtesy of a 33
rd-minute goal by Mason Quinton. The Marauders finished the game with a 29-6 lead in shots, an 11-3 lead in shots on goal, and a 4-1 lead in corner kicks.
Zander Leik remains first on the team in scoring with eight goals and two assists for 18 points, while Roy Parkyn is second with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Juan Ortiz Escobar and Matias Schmidt are tied for third on the team in points with eight each, as Ortiz Escobar has scored two goals and added four assists, while Schmidt has three goals and two assists to his credit.
In goal, Gavin Massimi has seen the majority of the time between the pipes, playing to a record of 7-1-25 with a 0.70 goals-against average and a hand in five shutouts, including four solo shutouts. Kieran Finegan saw time early in the season and earned his first win of the season on Saturday against Shippensburg, improving to 1-2-1 on the year with a 1.49 goals-against average with two saves in the victory over the Raiders.
