DAY 1 RESULTS
YORK, PA – West Chester swimmers won two of the three individual events and also won the only relay of the evening as the Golden Rams jumped out to a lead in the team standings after the first day of competition at the 2026 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships inside the York YMCA Wednesday evening.
West Chester amassed 330.5 points to build a 128-point lead over second place Bloomsburg. The Huskies picked up 202.5 points on the first day to stay ahead of third-place Clarion, who put up 199.5 points.
The Golden Rams won both the 1000-yard freestyle and the 200 Individual Medley to get the championship meet off to a good start. Freshman
Greta Saville (Mordialloc, Australia) picked up her first conference crown with a winning time of 10 minutes, 13.47 seconds in the 1000 free. Sophomore
Ditta Kowalik (State College, Pa./State College Area) placed fifth in a time of 10:32.38. Freshman
Margaret Getty (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) placed ninth overall.
Katie Grant (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) and
Amy Masciulli (Harleysville, Pa./ Souderton) were each 13th and 17th, respectively.
Senior
Lenya Ryan (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) collected her first career PSAC title by winning the 200 IM in a time of 2:04.20. It marked her fourth straight year reaching the 'A' Final, but the first year that she won the championship in that event.
Bella Kil (Enola, Pa./ East Pennsboro) was runner-up in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.27 while junior
Anna Evans (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) placed fifth in 2:09.06.
Molly Hubal (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) tied for 10th in 2:09.75 while
Allie DeFrehn (Mullica Hill, NJ Clearview Regional) was 18th overall in 2:10.23.
Freshman
Machalina Jasinska (Warsaw, Poland) finished third in the 50 free as the lone Golden Ram swimmer in the 'A' Final of that event. She touched the wall in 23.66 seconds.
Sam Kil (Enola, Pa./ East Pennsboro) was12th overall with a time of 24.22, and
Sam Heiland (West Chester, Pa./ West Chester East) was 14th in 24.24.
Lava Piuva (Malmo, Sweden) was 22nd in a time of 24.35.
The 800 Free Relay, comprised of Saville, Piuva, Kowalik and Heiland, won that relay in a time of 7:38.34 to claim the 64 points in that event.
Day 2 of the PSAC Swimming Championships gets under way Thursday morning with prelims at 10 a.m. in 100 butterfly, 400 IM and the 200 free. The 200 free relay and 400 medley relay will be competed in the evening session with the finals in the individual events mentioned above.
