LOCK HAVEN, PA - West Chester University goalkeeper,
Morgan Koons (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week in the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) it was announced Tuesday afternoon.
Koons backstopped West Chester to a pair of road wins last week defeating Millersville in the middle of the week and topping No. 9 Pace on the weekend. Koons got the win in both contests going the distance each time. She made 18 saves and picked up four ground balls. Koons faced a total of 56 shots - 42 of those on goal - in West Chester's two wins. She was instrumental against Pace making five saves in the opening quarter when the Setters controlled the draws and took 12 shots. Koons made five saves in the fourth quarter at Millersville to keep the Marauders at bay in the conference opener for both schools.
West Chester heads north for Spring Break this week to take on Bentley University on Thursday at 2 p.m. and then Assumption on Saturday at 1 p.m.
