One of the finest golfers in the history of West Chester University, Scott Vandergrift has complemented an outstanding college golfing career with an equally impressive coaching career at Millersville University. Vandergrift was a four-year letterwinner for the Golden Rams and a two-year captain of the squad in 1972 and 1973. The Golden Rams authored a 21-3 record in head-to-head matches during his two seasons as team captain. He helped West Chester to a fourth-place finish at the PSAC Championships in 1973.

Since 1984, Vandergrift has served as head men's golf coach at PSAC rival Millersville University where he has developed the Marauders into a regional power. He is a four-time PSAC Coach of the Year and steered Millersville to the conference championship in 1999. Vandergrift has also been named 2008-09 PGA Professional of the Year for the Philadelphia Chapter as well as being named a member of the PGA President's Society. Under Vandergrift's tutelage, former Marauders golfer Chad Schulze was the PSAC Golfer of the Year in 2000.
